Why does nobody talk about how easy it is to get sucked into flat earth videos
I used to just scroll past conspiracy stuff thinking it was all crazy people yelling into phones. Then about 3 months ago I fell down a rabbit hole of flat earth debates on YouTube. One video led to another and before I knew it I spent 4 hours watching some guy explain why NASA faked the moon landings. It messed with my head so bad I took a level to my kitchen counter just to check if it was actually level. I had to force myself to go outside and look at the horizon to snap out of it. Has anyone else had that moment where a conspiracy theory actually made you doubt basic stuff you learned in school?

That level on your kitchen counter story hits close to home because it shows how these videos prey on that sneaky little doubt we all have. Once you start questioning one thing, the algorithm just keeps feeding you more until your whole foundation feels shaky. A buddy of mine fell into the same trap and spent a week checking if water drains the opposite way in his sink. Did you ever catch yourself wondering if that "government lies" feeling was actually just your brain getting addicted to the thrill of secret knowledge?

That "thrill of secret knowledge" part really got me @derekwalker. I went through the same thing last year. What finally helped me was setting a simple rule. I made myself fact check every third video before I watched another one. It broke the cycle. I found most of those "hidden truths" were just bad science or edited clips. The addiction faded once I stopped feeding it. Now I just scroll past that stuff.
