Walked into a grocery store in Tulsa and noticed all the security cameras were pointed at the ceiling

I was grabbing milk at a Reasor's around 2 AM and every single dome camera in the dairy aisle was tilted straight up. Not one showed a single shelf. I asked the night stocker about it and he just shrugged and said 'corporate sent a memo about bird nests in the rafters.' Has anyone else seen stores deliberately pointing cameras at nothing useful?

Yeah that whole "bird nests in the rafters" line is almost certainly bullshit from corporate. I used to work loss prevention at a chain in Oklahoma and cameras aimed at the ceiling are usually either a lazy install or they're trying to avoid seeing theft so they don't have to report it. If the cameras point up they can't catch shrink and the store looks better on paper. Next time you're in there see if the dairy cooler door seals are broken or if there's product sitting out of temp that's a dead giveaway they're cutting corners on purpose.
