That $40 'survival' seed pack I bought during the pandemic was a total dud
Back in 2020 when everyone was panic buying, I dropped $40 on a so-called emergency seed vault from some website. It promised enough vegetables to feed a family for a year, sounded perfect at the time. When I finally planted them in my backyard last spring, maybe 10 percent actually sprouted. The rest were just dead seeds, probably sat in a warehouse for years. I tried following the instructions exactly, but the germination rate was awful. Turns out those cheap bulk seed packs are often old stock that won't grow. Has anyone else tried those prepper seed kits and had better luck?

I actually wonder if the problem isn't just old seeds but the kind of seeds they put in those packs. A lot of those emergency vaults use hybrid varieties bred for commercial farms, not backyard gardens. They need perfect conditions to sprout, and they don't always do well with home soil and inconsistent watering. Have you checked if yours were from a reputable seed bank or just some random seller?
