Spent two days trying to find the original source for that 'FEMA camp' map everyone uses
You know the one, it's a map of the US with red dots supposedly showing FEMA detention centers. I saw it again last week and decided to actually trace it back instead of just sharing it. Started with reverse image searches, then dug through forum archives from like 2009. Turns out the map first popped up on a now-dead blog called 'American Prepper' and was just a map of Walmart distribution centers someone had edited. The creator admitted it in a comment thread I found, but that thread is buried. It took me about 16 hours total across two days to find that admission. Makes you wonder how many other 'evidence' graphics are just recycled nonsense with a new scary label. Has anyone else actually managed to debunk a common piece of 'proof' and found it was way more work than you thought?

Wait, it was just a map of Walmarts the whole time?

Just a map of Walmarts" makes it sound so simple, but that's the creepy part. It means a ton of normal data can be pieced together to track people without them knowing. Makes you wonder what else gets collected that way.
