Showerthought: I spent 3 years reading moon landing hoax forums before I checked the original NASA photos myself

Back in 2019, I was deep into all those YouTube videos about the Apollo 11 flag waving. One night I pulled up the actual Apollo 11 image archive from the Johnson Space Center. Turns out the flag had a horizontal rod holding it out, and there's a clear shadow in the frame from the rod. Have any of you ever gone straight to the source material instead of relying on the commentary?

Start by going to the specific NASA or NOAA sites directly. I did the same thing with the moon landing stuff and found that the "waving flag" video was actually the flag being moved by the astronaut's hand, not wind. Type "Apollo 11 images Johnson Space Center" into your search bar and click the first link that ends in .gov. You'll see the raw photos with their original captions and technical notes. It takes a bit of digging but the difference is night and day compared to what the commentary channels show you. What source did you check first after that?

Check the NOAA site for their satellite data archives, it's way more legit than what most YouTube channels pull from.
