My old tin foil hat method was a joke compared to grounding straps

Used to wrap my head in foil from the grocery store, but after a weird hum in my speakers near the power station in Denver, I tried a $12 grounding strap from an electronics shop. Now my reception is static-free and my neighbors think I'm less of a nutjob, lmao. Anyone else ditch the classic foil for proper shielding gear?

Man, that hum is the real tell, right? Did the strap fix it at the source or just kill the noise between the speakers and the wall? I’m curious if the grounding point matters more than the strap itself.
