My neighbor's barn light story made me rethink all the 'cover-up' theories

So last Tuesday I was helping my neighbor in Tulsa string up some new floodlights for his barn, and he starts telling me about this old security footage he had from 2019. There was this bright streak in the sky that everyone on the local Facebook group swore was a drone or a weather balloon, but he kept the tape and it was actually just a reflection off his own metal roof. He said, "people see what they want before they check the obvious stuff." That hit me weird because I've been in these conspiracy threads for years, always looking for the hidden angle, but I never once thought about the simplest explanation being the roof glare. Has anyone else ever had a mundane detail like that totally unravel a theory they were sure about? I'm trying to figure out how to spot those blind spots in my own research now.

Watching a ceiling fan shadow trick my own eyes taught me to check lighting before anything else.
