Just realized my neighbor's 'bird drone' theory might have some legs after a weird weekend
So my buddy in Denver is super into the whole 'birds aren't real' thing, and for a joke last Saturday, I decided to try and debunk it by filming the sparrows in my yard for 3 hours straight. I set up my old GoPro and just let it roll. When I watched the footage, I swear one of them landed on a power line and just... stared directly into the camera for a full 90 seconds without moving. No pecking, no chirping, nothing. It was honestly creepy. I went from laughing at the idea to feeling a little unsettled. Has anyone else had a totally normal observation that accidentally made a conspiracy seem slightly less crazy?

My cousin in Phoenix had a crow on his fence that did the exact same thing last month, just a total blank stare for like two minutes straight. Tbh it stopped feeling like a bird and more like a security camera with feathers. I tried to shrug it off but now I notice how they never really land near the cell towers, only on the wires coming from them. Ngl, your footage thing would have freaked me out too.

Wait, they don't land on the towers themselves, only on the wires coming from them? That's a creepy detail I never picked up on. I always figured they just liked high perches, but that pattern is a little too specific to be random. My neighbor has a pair that sit on the power line outside his kitchen window every morning at exactly the same time, like they're clocking in for a shift. Now I'm going to be watching for this too, and I'm not sure I want to know what I'll find.

That security camera with feathers line got me. I've been side-eyed by crows before and it always makes me wonder who's really in charge. My own theory is they're just waiting for us to finally drop our guard so they can take over the power grid. They probably think we're the weird ones, staring at our little black rectangles all day.
