Just realized my dad's take on the moon landing made me pause
He said, 'If they faked it, the Soviets would have been the first to scream it from the rooftops.' That simple point about Cold War politics hit different than any technical argument. Anyone have a solid counter to that logic?

Buddy of mine used to work QA at a small defense contractor back in the 90s. He told me once they had a guy in his department who swore the moon landings were filmed in a desert. My buddy just asked him straight up, why would NASA spend billions to fake it when the Soviets were literally tracking every signal and watching live on their own radar? Guy had no answer, just shrugged and changed the subject. That always stuck with me.

Imagine everyone was in on it, nathan_davis. That would be the most boring conspiracy ever, like a surprise party where the guest of honor planned it themselves. The whole point falls apart if there's no one left to fool. We'd all just be standing around nodding at each other knowing the secret. Kind of defeats the purpose, you know?
