I was trying to fact-check a moon landing claim at a family dinner and it blew up

Last Thanksgiving in Chicago, my cousin said the flag waving proved it was fake. I pulled up a NASA page on my phone to show the explanation about the flagpole. He just got louder and said the site was part of the cover-up. I mean, I thought having the real info ready would help, but it just made him dig in. Has anyone found a better way to handle these talks when someone won't even look at the sources?

My friend works at the Adler Planetarium there. They have a whole exhibit with moon dust you can touch. Maybe next time suggest checking that out together, since you can't fake a physical rock.

Honestly though, is it worth the fight? Some people just like having a weird hill to die on. Life's too short to argue about moon rocks.

My uncle pulled the same thing last year with the shadows. Showing him the actual Apollo mission transcripts just made him call them fake documents. Once someone decides all the proof is part of the lie, you can't win with facts. I just change the subject to football now.
