Honestly, I used to laugh at the idea of a 'deep state' until I worked on a federal building project in DC

We had a simple permit for a water line get held up for 9 months by three different agencies, each blaming the other. Tbh, seeing that mess up close made me get why people believe in shadowy groups running things. Has anyone else had a normal job that suddenly made a conspiracy theory feel a lot more real?

Wait, they held up a water line for nine months? That's not just red tape, that's a whole red carpet of nonsense.

Honestly, we had the same thing with a fence permit... I just started calling the main office every single morning at 8:30. After two weeks of that, they finally pushed it through just to get me to stop. It's dumb, but being the most annoying person in the room sometimes works.

Yeah, that red carpet of nonsense miles_roberts22 mentioned is real. The trick is to get a single point of contact at the lead agency and make them own the whole timeline.
