Had to choose between tracking flight patterns or ghost hunting gear for a paranormal theory

I was debating if a weird light I saw near Bakersfield was a secret military drone or something else, so I had to pick between buying a flight radar app or a cheap EMF detector. I went with the EMF detector because it felt more hands on, but now I just have a device that beeps at my microwave. Anyone else ever pick the wrong tool for investigating a conspiracy and end up with nothing useful?

Flight radar won't prove ghosts are real, at least the EMF gives you a chance.

My buddy once bought a thermal camera to prove his landlord was spying on him through the vents. Turned out the hot spots were just his cat sleeping on the heating vents and a pipe sweating. He spent three hundred bucks to learn his cat is warm and his plumbing is old. Now that EMF detector is at least honest about microwaves, which is MORE than I can say for my buddy's camera. Sometimes the gear just tells you what you already know but didn't want to hear.
