After my impact driver broke, I'm debating if tool lifespans are rigged.

I was putting together a shelf when it just gave out. Some people claim companies design stuff to fail fast, but others say it's only bad batches. I've heard both sides and can't pick one. What do you think about this idea for home gear?

Catch this pattern with small appliances all the time. They chug along perfectly until the warranty expires. Then it's like they have a built-in timer for failure.

Wild how even the good brands seem to do this now. My mom's old mixer ran for twenty years, but my new one died right after the one year mark. Did they just make things better back then?
