Two-pass troweling on I-10 ramp, I was wrong about it for 8 years

Always thought two-pass finishing was a waste of time, just extra labor for no real gain. Then last fall we did a 4,000 square foot ramp section near El Paso and the second pass saved us from a nightmare of bird baths and uneven edges. Foreman Bill swore by it, I finally saw the difference in texture and flatness after the rain test. Anyone else flip on a technique after seeing it on a highway job instead of a pour?
