That talk with an old highway guy changed my mind about fiber mesh
I was dead set against fiber mesh for years, thought it was just a gimmick to save on labor. Then I got stuck on a job with a retired DOT inspector who'd been doing bridge decks since the 70s. He told me about a stretch of I-35 outside Tulsa that used fiber back in 1985 and still hasn't cracked at the joints. He had photos on his phone, clear as day. That concrete was 40 years old and looked better than some 5 year old pours I've seen. Made me wonder if I've been over-relying on wire mesh this whole time. Anyone else had a conversion moment on additives?

Keep hearing the same story from different corners of the industry. My uncle's been pouring driveways for 30 years and he switched to fiber about a decade ago says he rarely has to go back for crack repairs like he used to with mesh. If multiple old timers are agreeing that fiber holds up better long term, that's got to count for something.

You know a buddy of mine who runs a ready mix plant? He said the same thing about fiber after they poured a county road near his parents' place and it's outlasted every mesh job they did before it.
