Switched from magnesium to aluminum floats on my bull floats last month
I used to lug around magnesium floats that felt like they weighed 20 pounds after an hour, but swapping to aluminum dropped that weight in half and made finishing big slabs way easier on my shoulders. Has anyone else tried different float materials for long pours?

Idk, isn't it crazy how much difference that swap makes? I finally switched to aluminum floats last year and I don't think I could ever go back to magnesium. I mean, after a full day of pouring a big warehouse floor my arms were just done with the magnesium ones, they felt like they were pulling me down. But with the aluminum ones I can actually keep going without my shoulders screaming at me by lunchtime. It's like the weight difference lets me move faster and get a better finish without fighting the tool the whole time. Totally changed how I feel about doing those long pours.

My 10ft aluminum bull float saved my shoulders on a 40-yard garage floor last week. Magnesium is nice for burnishing but man does it get heavy when you're chasing that cream line for hours.
