Spent $200 on a power trowel float kit and wish I hadn't

Bought a set of those aftermarket float blades for my Whiteman last spring thinking they'd save me money over OEM. They wore down unevenly after just 3 jobs and left grooves in the finish. Has anyone had better luck with a certain brand of replacement blades?

nah man, i'm gonna hard disagree on this one. i've been running aftermarket float blades on my Whiteman for like two years now and they've been just as good as OEM for a fraction of the price. the key is you gotta buy from a reputable supplier not some random amazon knockoff. i got mine from a local concrete supply shop, paid like $80 for the full kit, and they've held up fine through at least a dozen big pours. maybe you just got a bad batch or installed them weird? i always torque mine to spec and break them in on a wet pass first. never had grooves or uneven wear. sounds like user error honestly.

@josephs26 I get what you're saying but you might wanna double check that torque spec thing. Whiteman actually recommends a specific pattern not just a number, I had the same issue till I looked it up. Those local shop blades are solid though, glad they're working for you.

Yes! Same here, local supplier blades are legit and hold up great.
