Poured a slab in Bakersfield last week, and the old timer's advice about waiting on the edger was dead on
Honestly, I was helping my uncle pour a 12x20 shed slab in Bakersfield last week and we were behind schedule. His neighbor, who finished concrete for 30 years, stopped by and said to skip the edger until the bleed water disappeared. I thought he was crazy because we always edge right after floating. We waited about 40 minutes, and when we ran the edger the edge came out crisp with no chipping. Every other slab I rushed cracked at the edges within a day. Ngl, that one piece of advice saved us from a callback. Anyone else have an old timer give them a tip that sounded wrong but actually worked?
