Just compared power trowel blades after a big slab job in Austin
I had to finish a 5,000 square foot warehouse floor over in Austin last month. Used my old set of combination blades for half of it then switched to a set of finish blades for the other half. The finish blades left almost no swirl marks and the floor looked way more uniform. Took me about the same amount of time but the extra pass felt worth it. Has anyone else noticed a big jump in quality switching blade types mid-job?

Blew my back out switching blades mid-job once, ended up finishing the slab with my helper laughing at me hunched over like a shrimp. You're right about the finish blades though, they clean up the surface way better than the combos. I find the finish blades need a little more careful handling on the first pass or you'll dig into the concrete and leave a mess. Took me a few jobs to figure out you have to feather the edges just right or it looks like a swirling nightmare. Still worth the extra effort when you step back and see that smooth finish though.

Feathering is everything with finish blades. First time I tried one I gouged the surface so bad the homeowner asked if I was making abstract art. Had to grind it all down and start over.
