Finally stopped using a trowel machine on small jobs

I used to haul my 36 inch power trowel out for every job no matter the size. Now if it's under 500 square feet I just hand finish with a fresno and it takes way less time. Has anyone else found a cutoff point where the machine is more trouble than it's worth?

Read a contractor say the same thing about his smaller jobs.

You've dealt with that too? I got burned on a tiny job last week where the guy wouldn't stop adding stuff.
