Caught a county inspector whispering about a 4 inch slope on a driveway in Phoenix
He said they've been letting 2 inch passes slide for years but someone new is cracking down now, has anyone else run into that issue on residential jobs lately?

That 4 inch slope has always been the code here in Maricopa County from what I've seen, but you're right that enforcement has been super inconsistent. I'd bet that new inspector got burned on a previous job where a 2 inch pass caused problems later.

Wait, so this inspector is basically punishing us for some other contractor's shoddy work from years ago? That's like failing a math test because the kid next to you couldn't add.
I mean sure, 4 inches is safer than 2, but come on - we all know half the time it's just a number on paper that nobody actually measures with a ruler at final walkthrough anyway. Funny how the "inconsistency" always seems to bite the guys who are just trying to move the job along.
