Remember when a bad power supply could take down a whole network?

Had a client's server keep dropping offline for a few seconds at a time. Spent three days checking switches, cables, and software before I finally put a meter on the server's power supply. The 12V rail was dipping just enough to cause a reset. It was a brand name unit, too, not some cheap thing. Anyone else run into weird power issues that took forever to find?

Honestly seems a bit dramatic. Modern gear is pretty good at handling small power dips.

Man, a buddy of mine had an office server that kept glitching, turned out the power strip was ancient and dying.
