Rant: Glued-in parts make simple fixes a huge pain now

I miss when you could swap out a hard drive with just a screwdriver. Now, half the laptops I see have the battery glued in place. Last week, I spent an hour trying to get one out without breaking it. It was a five minute job before, now it's a whole thing. This makes it tougher for folks who do repairs for a living. Plus, customers get mad when the bill is higher for what should be easy. Sometimes I wish we could go back to the simpler times.

Totally get that frustration. Glue turns a simple swap into a risky operation that eats up time. It really does feel like they're working against the repair people on purpose.

Man, I used to brush it off as just how things are made now. Then I tried to replace the battery in my own phone last month. What should have been a cheap fix turned into a cracked screen because of that stubborn adhesive. After that mess, I totally see what @fionalopez means about it feeling intentional. It's not just laptops, either. Try getting into a modern tablet without making a huge mess. They really are building things to be thrown away, not fixed.
