I finally saw why my old thermal paste was causing random shutdowns after a clean install
The paste on my personal rig had dried out and cracked, causing poor heat transfer that only showed up under a sustained load for about 15 minutes, so has anyone else had a paste fail silently like that?

Did you actually try to clean it off with alcohol or did you just go straight to scraping? Because I had a GPU once where the paste was so dry it crumbled into little pieces when I touched it. Wondering if that's what you ran into or something worse.
