I finally realized my cable management was actually making things worse

Honestly, I spent 3 hours last week zip-tying everything behind my bench into neat bundles like I always do, then a client's drive failed and I had to undo half of it just to swap a SATA cable. Tipped me off when I was hunting for which tie to cut and realized I'd trapped the power leads behind the mobo tray with no slack. Has anyone else had that moment where your tidy setup backfired?

My desk used to look like a work of art with every cable zip tied and routed behind the back panel. Then last month I had to add a second GPU and realized I'd locked everything so tight I couldn't even fit the power cables through the gap I left. Had to cut about 15 zip ties and reroute the whole mess just to get the card in. Now I leave slack loops behind the motherboard tray and only use velcro straps so I can undo stuff fast. A tidy setup looks nice for photos but it's useless if you actually swap parts regularly.

Ended up buying a power strip with longer cables just to avoid that exact trap.
