Seriously, forty bucks for a paste tool? That's wild for a bunch of office machines. The credit card trick has worked fine for ages. It's not like these are overclocking rigs or anything.

Credit cards can leave air bubbles though. A proper spreader gives more even coverage, which matters even on basic builds.
