Had the worst Wednesday of my career fixing a server rack in Austin

Last month I was swapping drives on a Dell PowerEdge at a client's office and accidentally yanked the wrong hot swap drive. One of the RAID 5 drives started clicking, then the whole array went offline. I spent 6 hours restoring from a backup that was 3 days old, losing a whole weekend's worth of invoices for them. The client was pissed, and now I always triple check labels before pulling anything. Has anyone else had a similar RAID fail moment that made you change your workflow?

Honestly, that RAID 5 fail story is brutal, I felt that one in my gut. Triple checking labels is a lesson I had to learn the hard way too after a similar screw up.

Labels are things people ignore until they learn the hard way.
