Had a customer last week insist his PC was haunted, turned out it was just a loose front panel connector

Guy in Austin swore his computer was possessed because it would randomly power on at 3am, so I spent 45 minutes tracking it down to a poorly seated power switch header on the motherboard, anyone else run into weird ghost behavior that was just a bad connection?

That "poorly seated power switch header" thing is the kind of sneaky gremlin that drives you crazy. So when you finally found it, was the customer still convinced ghosts were real until you physically showed them the loose wire? I always get the feeling people almost want it to be paranormal rather than admit they just didn't seat a connector all the way.

Honestly, sometimes I think people want the mystery because finding a loose wire feels too simple (they'd rather have a cool ghost story than admit they spent an hour troubleshooting a two-cent connector). It's like the brain craves a dramatic explanation instead of a boring physical one (you know, the same reason we jump to "it's haunted" before "maybe I left the door open"). A solid ghost story is way more fun to tell at dinner than "I didn't push the thingy all the way in.
