Found a trick to fix flickering monitors that isn't replacing the cable
I was pulling my hair out over this Dell monitor in a client's office. Flickered every 10 minutes, sometimes went black for 2 seconds. Tried new DisplayPort cable, different port on the GPU, even swapped the power brick. Nothing worked. Then I noticed the monitor mount was bolted kind of tight against the VESA plate. Loosened it up by a quarter turn on each screw and the flicker stopped completely. Something about the tension messing with the internal connections I guess. Has anyone else run into weird stuff like that with monitor mounting pressure?

Can confirm this is a real thing with Dell monitors especially. Had a client's U2719D that would flash randomly every few hours, drove us nuts. Turned out the mount bracket was torqued down so tight it bent the VESA plate slightly, putting pressure on the PCB right behind the mounting holes. Loosening it let the board sit flat again and the flicker stopped cold. Same thing happens with some LG models if you use those thin aftermarket mounting plates that bolt directly to the back of the panel instead of using the included stand adapter. The screws bottom out into the plastic housing and push against the panel's logic board underneath, creating a tiny short or intermittent connection. Always leave a little breathing room on those VESA screws unless the manufacturer specifically says to torque them down.
