Spent $300 on a brand new Kirby Morgan band mask without checking the neck seal first.

Bought a size 12 from a shop in Seattle and my neck seal had a half inch gap that flooded on the first dive to 60 feet, anyone else stuck with expensive gear that just doesn't fit right?

People are always in a hurry to buy things without checking the small details. Same thing happens with wetsuits and drysuits, folks grab whatever size they think they need and then get soaked on the first real use. It's not just diving gear either, I see it with shoes and work gloves all the time. Manufacturers act like one size fits most people, but necks and feet can be totally different from one person to the next. Might be worth getting measured at a shop that actually stocks different gasket sizes before you drop that kind of money again. A good shop would have warned you about the gap before you even walked out the door.

Take it a little less seriously. Some of us buy online because the local shop acts like they're doing you a favor by letting you breathe their air. I got my last drysuit from a place that had a size chart and a return policy, not a guy who rolls his eyes when you ask if the neck seal comes in a smaller size. Sure, getting measured is ideal, but not everyone has a shop nearby that stocks ten different gasket sizes. And honestly, most people manage fine with a bit of trial and error. The real issue is that some manufacturers cut corners on their sizing, not that buyers are lazy.
