Showerthought: Complacency hurts more than cold water

Lots of divers focus on gear or conditions, but I think overconfidence is worse. I skipped a buddy check once and got tangled in lines, which was a wake-up call.

Yeah that "best teacher" bit from @samschmidt hits hard. Heard a podcast say overconfidence makes you skip the small steps that keep you safe.

Feel that, man. Getting tangled sounds absolutely terrifying. Stuff like that really is the best teacher, awful as it is.

You're right about that being the best teacher. Just wish the lessons weren't so rough.
