Showerthought: After three seasons on Gulf rigs, I think the travel hype for offshore work is overblown.
The long flights and weeks away from home drain the fun out of it faster than most divers admit.

Come on, the travel is half the point of those jobs though. You're making real money to see places most people never do. It can't be that bad if guys keep going back.

Totally get that, the travel is honestly the best part lol. Makes the long hitches worth it. Kinda makes me miss being on the road sometimes.

Yeah, and it's not just about seeing places. Like, you get to eat at diners in the middle of nowhere that have the best pie. Or catch a sunrise over the desert when everyone else is stuck in traffic. @janap94 is right about making money to see stuff most don't. Those moments stick with you long after the hitch ends. Makes the rough days worth it.
