Overheard a dive supervisor in Morgan City say he never uses a hot water system for anything under 60 feet
He claimed it's all about conserving gas and keeping the tender dry, but I've always thought cold dives at depth mess with your judgment faster than anyone admits - who's actually running warm on shallow jobs and does it make a difference on your bottom time?

Yeah I read somewhere that cold water below 50 degrees can mess with your focus way before you feel it, and 60 feet is deep enough for that to creep in. Heard a few guys say warm water keeps you sharper even on short dives, so conserving gas doesn't mean much if you're slow to react.

Changed my mind on this after a bad dive last year. Used to think shallow cold dives were no big deal, but shivering through a 50 footer taught me how much it slows your reaction time. Warm water is worth the gas every time, bottom line.
