My primary light flooded at 90 feet during a night hull clean in Tampa Bay.

I switched to my backup, finished the job by feel, and now I double-check every O-ring seal before a night dive, what's your go-to pre-dive light check?

Honestly, that level of checking seems like overkill. A quick button press to see if it turns on is usually enough. Lights are built tough these days, and constantly messing with o-rings can actually cause more problems by damaging the seals. Sometimes you just have to trust your gear and go.

Lost a good light once because a tiny bit of grit got on the o-ring during a battery change... took five seconds to wipe it clean but I was in a hurry. Now I always give the seal a quick look and a light grease touch with my finger. That habit saved me last month when the o-ring was starting to look a bit pinched.

but @stella_shah89, you don't even check the o-ring...
