I laughed at the old guy who said he never touches his harness buckles underwater, then I watched him work
I thought keeping buckles done up and just sliding in was lazy until he showed me his log from 19 years in the Gulf and said he had seen two guys lose tanks on wet buckles at depth. Now I check mine before every splash and I keep a spare strap in my bag. Anyone else get taught this the hard way?
Two guys losing tanks at depth?? That is straight up terrifying to picture. I always figured wet buckles were just annoying, not a real danger. Nineteen years in the Gulf and seeing that happen twice is enough to make anyone a believer. Guess the old guys know what they are talking about more than we give them credit for.
