Got tangled in a shot line off Galveston last month and it changed my whole rig setup

A crab pot line wrapped around me at 45 feet and I spent 10 minutes with my backup knife getting free. Anyone else swap to a serrated blade after a close call like that?

Buddy of mine had the same thing happen off Port Aransas. He carries a serrated blade now and swears he’d still be tangled without it.

Tangle free caught me off guard one time with a 12 foot bull shark that was basically gift wrapped in mono. I switched to a serrated blade myself after that, a cheap Cold Steel folding knife that cuts through braid like butter. Now I clip it to my PFD with a lanyard, always on my right side so I can grab it fast.
