Doubting the 10 year O-ring shelf life claim, now I get it
Honestly, I always thought guys saying O-rings go bad just sitting in a toolbox was overblown. Last week I pulled a standard 2-206 from my backup kit that had been in there maybe 7 years. It cracked right in my hands during a pre-dive check on a job near Port Arthur. Now I'm swapping out my entire stash and marking dates with a sharpie. Any of you guys actually run into seal failures from older stock or am I being too cautious now?

Found a 5 year old 2-227 that shattered on me last month during a hydro test, so yeah not overblown at all.

That 2-227 you mentioned is one of the specific models I've heard a lot of complaints about. I've been doing pressure testing for years and I've seen a couple bottles fail, but never a 5 year old one like that. I think there might be a batch issue with those cylinders from that time period, not a general problem with all tanks. I had a 3 year old Luxfer from 2019 that passed just fine last month. What was the manufacturer date on that 2-227 specifically?
