Almost lost my air hose on a pipeline job in Morgan City because I skipped one check
Working a pipeline job in Morgan City about 8 weeks back, and I got in a hurry while getting dressed out. I hooked up my bailout bottle but never checked the air hose connection to my hat, which was dumb because that hose is the only thing that keeps you alive down there. Ten minutes into the dive I felt a small leak on my neck seal and looked down to see the fitting was barely hand tight from the last guy who used the gear. I surfaced, tightened it, and went back down, but now I do a full hose and fitting check every single time no matter how rushed the supervisor is. Has anyone else caught a loose fitting like that because somebody up top was pushing you to splash fast?
