Waited 3 weeks to fix a comic book store's broken database because I didn't check the backup tapes first

The backup tapes from June were corrupted and I lost 200 customer orders from the last sale, so if you run a shop, test your backups every month or you'll waste a whole Saturday rebuilding everything from scratch like I just did.

Oh man, that's brutal. I bet you were ready to pull your hair out (or at least sigh really loud) when you realized those tapes were toast. Nothing like losing 200 orders to teach you a lesson about backups the hard way. I hope your Saturday rebuild was at least fueled by good pizza or something.

We lost a whole batch of invoices once and I learned the hard way to run automated cloud backups every night now. A solid pepperoni pizza and a six pack got me through that rebuild though.
