Used to think bagging and boarding every single issue was mandatory

For years I'd buy a pack of 100 boards and bags every few months, spending maybe $40 each time. Last fall I realized I only actually re-read about 10% of my modern floppies. Now I only board and bag keys, first appearances, and stuff I know I'll pull out. The rest go in a long box with a sheet of acid-free paper between issues. Saved a bunch of money and shelf space. Does anyone else have a 'no-bag' threshold for certain books?

Totally get that. Honestly started doing the same with my dollar bin finds, just a long box for the filler stuff. Feels less like a chore and more like actually enjoying the collection.

Where's your filler box, @wyatt_fox68?

That Mike Zapcic from Comic Book Men said something once that stuck with me. He said most collectors end up with three long boxes of stuff they never touch, and it's basically just expensive furniture taking up space. I took that to heart. Now I only bag and board if it's worth over $20 raw or has a cool cover I might want to frame. The rest just sit together in a box with some silica gel packs to keep moisture down. Saves me from that weird guilt of having hundreds of boarded books I never open.
