That Wednesday at my local shop in Cleveland made me rethink how I judge comic fans
So last Wednesday I hit my shop in Cleveland for new comic day, and the place was packed for a change, like 30 people in a room built for 12. There was this older guy, maybe mid 60s, in a beat up Browns cap, and he was holding a stack of old X-Men issues asking the owner if they were worth anything. Everyone else kind of shuffled away and eye rolled, and I admit I did too, because we all know that guy, right? But then a teenage kid in the back piped up and actually asked him what the stories were, not the prices, and the old guy's face just lit up. He sat down and talked about reading those books on a bus in 1979 for a solid 20 minutes, and half the store stopped pulling their own books to listen. I walked out with my 6 titles feeling kind of dumb for assuming the worst about him. Do you all judge the price checkers at your shop too, or is that just me?
