That time a 10-year-old corrected my pull list and I actually saved money
I was at a tiny shop in Portland called Cosmic Komix last month and this kid saw me grabbing my usual stack of Batman variants. He pointed at one cover and said 'that artist reuses poses from issue 42, you're wasting $8.' I got defensive at first but looked it up on my phone and he was totally right. So I started checking cover credits before buying and I've cut my weekly spend from $50 to like $30. Anybody else had a random kid or stranger give them a tip that actually worked?

My buddy has a thing for signed first editions and this kid at a convention pointed out his favorite author actually signs all his books with the same generic inscription. Now he just buys unsigned copies for way less and has saved a TON. He still feels weird about taking life advice from a 12-year-old but the kid was dead on.

Honestly that's insane to me. I can't believe a 12-year-old just casually dropped that knowledge like it was nothing. I've been to conventions where grown adults are arguing over whether a signature is real or not and here's some kid just casually solving the whole system. Tbh your buddy should just buy that kid a pizza or something cause he probably saved him hundreds of dollars. Ngl I feel like that kid's gonna be running the whole rare book market by the time he's 20.
