My comic shop had a fire drill during a big signing
I was at the signing for the new Spider-Man artist at my local shop in Denver. The alarm went off and we all had to stand outside for 20 minutes, holding our books in the rain. What's the worst timing you've had at a comic event?

Waited three hours in line for a writer at a con in Phoenix. Got to the front, my pen died mid-autograph. I had to borrow one from the guy behind me, who was holding a book about how the writer ruined his favorite character. The writer just stared at us like we were a performance art piece.

Three hours in Phoenix heat for that moment is brutal, stellag21. The pen dying is bad enough, but having to borrow from the guy with the complaint book is next level awkward. I can't get over the writer just staring at both of you. That's a special kind of con experience you can't make up. I would have wanted to melt into the floor right there.
