My buddy from the LCS called me out on my pull list last week
He said I was just buying whatever had a #1 on it and not actually reading the books. It hit different because I looked at my stack and realized I couldn't remember the plot of half of them. How do you guys decide what to actually follow vs just grabbing for the novelty?

Nah, buying #1s is basically a treasure hunt. You never know which one turns into the next big thing and you get to say you were there first. Plus the thrill of pulling something out of the new releases is half the fun, right?

Laugh at your buddy, then look down at your own stack and realize he was talking about you too lol. I've got a shelf full of #1s I bought for the cover art alone and couldn't tell you what happens past page 10 in any of them. It's basically paying $5 for a nice poster you read once and then forget.
