Just found a way to finally organize my comic boxes without losing my mind

My collection hit about 500 books and I could never find anything. I tried sorting by character, then by publisher, but it was a mess. Last month I started putting a tiny colored sticker on the spine for each major event or crossover, like a green dot for 'Secret Wars' stuff. Now when I want a specific story, I just look for the color. It took an afternoon but saved me so much time digging. Anyone else have a simple system that actually works for them?

Heard of using a spreadsheet to track them by box and row number?

So you're using colored dots for big events, but what about story arcs that are just in one series? Do you end up with a bunch of the same color dots all in a row, and does that get confusing at all?

My dark blue dots for the "Death of Superman" run stretched five straight issues and I just pretended it was a mood ring.
