I finally figured out why my local comic shop's pull list system was driving me crazy
Used to just hand over a stack of floppies every Wednesday and hope they remembered what I grabbed. Then last month I actually sat down with the owner and asked how their back end works. Turns out my handwriting on those little cards was messing up the whole thing. Got a spreadsheet going now with issue numbers and it's been smooth. Anyone else ever find out their own habits were the problem at their shop?

Wait, you too? I had the exact same problem at my shop. My entire pull list was just scribbles on those little cards. The owner was too nice to tell me my handwriting looked like a doctor's prescription. Started doing a simple text file on my phone with the issue numbers and dates. Night and day difference. Now I just show him my screen and he grabs everything in under a minute. Feels dumb it took me years to figure that out.

My friend Danny had this exact issue at his shop in Austin. He was using those little cards too and wrote 'Spider-Man #1' when he meant the new Ultimate run, not the 2018 one. Owner grabbed the wrong book three weeks in a row before Danny realized his chicken scratch was the problem. Now he sends a screenshot of his phone list and it's like a whole new system for them both.

Wait, were you using one of those little spiral notebooks they keep behind the counter? I switched to putting my pull list in a note on my phone too, and like you said @danieljenkins, it makes a big difference. I color code mine by week now just so I don't grab a Tuesday book on a Wednesday by mistake.
