Hit 500 issues in my longbox last week and it made me think about my old collection
I was just organizing my longbox and realized I have 500 issues now. That number surprised me because I remember when I started collecting back in high school and thought 50 issues was a lot. Most of my old books from the 90s are beat up and not worth much, but I still have my first issue of X-Men that my buddy gave me in 1995. It's wild how I used to flip through bins for hours looking for key issues but now I just buy trades or whatever catches my eye online. Has anyone else hit a random milestone and just stopped to think about how your collecting habits changed?

Hit 500 issues" - buddy of mine hit 600 last month and his wife made him sell a third of em.

I read somewhere that the average comic collector ends up with around 300 to 400 issues before they feel the burn. 500 is solid, but 600 sounds like a lot of boxes taking up space. My buddy's wife did the same thing, made him downsize because they were stacked in the hallway. It's tough, but sometimes you gotta pick the ones you really love and let the rest go. There's a fine line between a collection and just hoarding stacks of paper.
