Hit 500 issues in my collection last weekend and realized something scary

I hit the 500 mark on my long boxes and started doing the math. At $4 a pop average, that's around $2,000 sitting in my basement. What got me is I never even thought about storage or value until I counted them all. If your collection is growing faster than you're reading, take a weekend to log everything before it gets out of hand. How many of you guys have actually counted your total issues lately?

Man, 500 issues is no joke. That's a serious chunk of change sitting in boxes whether you think about it or not. Have you actually gone through and checked what some of those books are worth now, or are you just looking at what you paid for them? Because I bet there's a couple in there that have shot up way past cover price and a bunch that are basically worth the cardboard they're stored in.
