Got laughed at for reading comics on a tablet at my local shop in Boise, and it changed how I buy everything
Last month I sat down at my shop in Boise, pulled out my iPad, and started reading a back issue I'd grabbed, and this guy next to me actually snorted and said real fans hold paper. I used to drop $40 a week on single issues just to prove I was a real collector, but I was running out of shelf space and honestly rereading half of them. Now I read everything on my tablet first and only buy the physical copy if I actually love it, which has saved me close to $200 since June. Does anyone else get gatekept over how they read, or is it just my shop?
That guy sounds like the type who lectures you about how music sounded better on vinyl while his record player sits unplugged in the corner. Reading on a tablet is still reading, and honestly your wallet is the real winner here since you're not blowing cash on stuff you won't reread.
