Bought a $75 'rare' variant cover that turned out to be a fake

The seller swore it was a legit print from a small shop, but the colors were off and the paper felt wrong. I should have checked the issue number online first. Has anyone else gotten burned on a fake comic lately?

That "small shop" story is usually a red flag. Real small print shops don't do variant covers for big books like that. They just print whatever the distributor sends them. Check the barcode on the back too. Fakes often have a weird barcode or no barcode at all.

I mean, I used to just trust sellers on that stuff. But after seeing a few fakes in person, I check everything now, it's just not worth the risk.

Saw a whole article on this exact scam last week.
